Top-ranked plans in Ohio¹
In its 2012-2013 Health Insurance Plan Rankings, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) concluded that Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Ohio is the:
- #1 Private plan in Ohio and the #38 Private plan in the U.S.
- #1 Medicare plan in Ohio and the #16 Medicare plan in the U.S.
NCQA evaluated over 538 private and 465 Medicare health plans and ranked them based on clinical performance, member satisfaction, and NCQA Accreditation.
Highest possible ratings
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Ohio received the highest possible rating of 5 out of 5 in NCQA’s Private Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2012–2013 for several measures, including:
- Satisfaction with physicians
- Rating of care received
- Rating of health plan
- Diabetes treatment

NCQA also ranked Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Ohio the 38th best plan in the nation.¹
Top performance in online and mobile health engagement
Kaiser Permanente received six eHealthcare Leadership Awards, including the highest honor for Organizational Commitment and the Platinum Award for Best Mobile Communications. Kaiser Permanente also received the top award in its category for its iOS app, which has been downloaded more than 350,000 times on Android and iPhone devices. In addition to these top awards, Kaiser Permanente was recognized for:

Commitment to greener health care
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Ohio was honored with the 2012 “Partner for Change” Award from Practice Greenhealth, a national membership organization for health care facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations. The Award is one of the organization’s Environmental Excellence Awards given each year to honor outstanding environmental achievements in the health care sector.
Top clinical quality score in the Ohio region
According to the national consulting firm Aon Hewitt, for the entire Ohio region, Kaiser Permanente's Clinical Quality Score is the highest in the market. It is 21% above the average HMO in the market and 183% better than the all-plan average.²
Highest customer loyalty ranking in the health insurance sector
For the second year in a row, Kaiser Permanente received the highest customer loyalty ranking in the health insurance sector based on the Satmetrix® 2012 Net Promoter® industry rankings. Kaiser Permanente received a Net Promoter Score of 33%, 30 points higher than the industry average that profiled nine national carriers.
A company’s Net Promoter Score, or NPS®, is based on customers’ likelihood to recommend the company’s product or service in the sector being rated. Other companies that ranked number one in their industry included Virgin America, Apple, Vanguard, Trader Joe's, and Amazon.com.
Excellent Accreditation
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Ohio holds "Excellent" accreditation ratings for our Commercial HMO and Medicare HMO products from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The "Excellent" designation places us among the best health care plans in the nation in providing quality care and service.³
